Terms & Conditions – TechStuff Electronics Repair Centre

1. General

1.1 These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern all repair, maintenance, and related services provided by TechStuff (“we”, “our”, “us”).
1.2 By booking or accepting a repair service, the customer (“you”, “your”) agrees to these Terms.


2. Assessment & Quotations

2.1 All repairs are subject to an initial inspection to determine the fault and required work.
2.2 Quotations are provided based on the condition of the device at the time of inspection.
2.3 If additional faults are found during the repair, we will inform you before proceeding with any extra costs.


3. Repair Authorisation

3.1 No work will be carried out without your approval of the quotation.
3.2 Approval can be given in writing, by email, SMS, or other agreed methods.


4. Repair Time & Parts Policy

4.1 Repair times may vary depending on parts availability. Some components can take 6–9 weeks to source.
4.2 We will make every effort to keep you informed of progress.
4.3 A deposit for parts is required in advance and is non-refundable if the repair is cancelled.
4.4 For items deemed uneconomical to repair or beyond repair, an insurance certificate or claim letter can be provided at a cost of R150.


5. Repair Scope Disclaimer

5.1 All repairs performed by TechStuff are limited to the scope agreed upon in the provided work order.
5.2 Our technicians will address only the faults described and approved by the customer.
5.3 While every effort is made to ensure full functionality, repairs may not restore equipment to “like new” condition, and unrelated issues may remain.
5.4 We are not responsible for:

  • Damage caused by pre-existing faults, hidden defects, or improper handling before or after repair.
  • Performance issues outside of standard testing conditions.
    5.5 Certain repairs may involve the replacement of parts with equivalent alternatives when original parts are unavailable.

6. Parts & Components

6.1 We use new, refurbished, or customer-supplied parts, as agreed prior to repair.
6.2 If customer-supplied parts are used, we do not provide any warranty on those parts or any damage caused by them.


7. Turnaround Time

7.1 Estimated completion dates are provided as a guide only and may vary due to parts availability or unforeseen issues.
7.2 We are not liable for delays beyond our control.


8. Data & Confidentiality

8.1 You are responsible for backing up all data before handing over your device.
8.2 We are not liable for data loss, corruption, or disclosure during repair.
8.3 Any personal data accessed during repairs will be kept confidential in accordance with privacy laws.


9. Warranty on Repairs

9.1 Repairs carried out by us are covered by a 90-day warranty from the date of collection, unless otherwise specified.

9.2 The warranty covers only the original fault and replaced parts; it does not cover:

  • Damage caused by misuse, liquid ingress, impact, or tampering.
  • Subsequent unrelated faults.
    9.3 Warranty claims must be accompanied by proof of repair.

10. Uncollected Items

10.1 Devices not collected within 30 days of repair completion will incur storage fees.
10.2 Items left beyond 90 days may be sold or recycled to recover costs, after reasonable notice is given.


11. Payment

11.1 Payment is due upon collection unless otherwise agreed in writing.
11.2 We accept cash/card / EFT.
11.3 Devices remain our property until full payment is received.


12. Liability

12.1 While all care is taken, repairs are performed at your risk.
12.2 We are not liable for:

  • Pre-existing faults or damage.
  • Loss of data, programs, or functionality.
  • Indirect or consequential losses.

13. Cancellations

13.1 You may cancel before repairs begin without charge.
13.2 If work has commenced, you may be charged for labour and any parts ordered.


14. Governing Law

14.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.
14.2 Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the local courts.
